The indicative minimum international-to-international connection at Beijing Capital is 90 minutes on a single booking with bags checked through. Transfer specifics

The most common Beijing layover trap: Beijing has two international airports, Capital (PEK) and Daxing (PKX), about 67–80 km apart with no airside link and no through-baggage between them. A layover only works if your arrival and departure use the SAME airport. Air China and Star Alliance carriers use PEK (mostly Terminal 3); China Eastern moved to Daxing (PKX). Beijing Capital is a designated port for China's 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit, open to citizens of 55 countries — including Australia, the UK, US, Canada, Japan, South Korea and all EU/Schengen states — provided you're transiting to a THIRD country (not back where you came from) and hold a confirmed onward ticket departing within 240 hours. Approach the 'Temporary Entry Foreigner' counter with your passport and onward ticket; expect 30–60 minutes in that line at peak. Into the city: the Capital Airport Express subway links T2 and T3 to Dongzhimen in about 20–30 minutes for ¥25–35, running every 10–15 minutes — pay with Alipay/WeChat Pay or a single-ride ticket. Bring ¥200–300 cash as a backup, since foreign cards are sometimes rejected. Do not try to leave without qualifying for transit or holding a Chinese visa — it isn't allowed. The city is about 25 minutes away one-way; as a rule of thumb you want 6+ hours before exiting is worth the queues, and you should be back through security 90 minutes before boarding.
